The Mountain View Model Railroad Club hosts and/or participates in periodic events open to the public at the Didsbury Museum and other locations as may best promote the clubs activities. Mountain View Model Railroad Club actively supports the initiatives of the Didsbury and District Historical Society and all their activities at the Didsbury Museum. Stop by the museum and chat with some of our members about the railroad history of Didsbury and why they chose model railroading as a hobby. Mountain View Model Train and Hobby Extravaganza - Carstairs 2021 is planned for September 18th and 19th, 2021. We are watching developments with COVID-19 Pandemic and will make a decision about going forward with this show in early September 2021.
The Mountain View Model Railroad Club has worked extremely hard to develope an outdoor garden railroad on the east side of the museum. We were proud to be able to offer this new feature to visitors during Alberta Culture Days Celebrations in September 2020. There is much more to be done in 2021 to complete the track plan and develope scenic displays. Our garden railroad is able to operate in the cold and snow and we are (stormy weather permitting) planning to present a Christmas Train event in December 2021 in support of the Didsbury Museum's December activities.
